In Aweil, South Sudan, the majority of families depend on agriculture for survival, yet recurrent shocks, limited resources, and climate challenges undermine food production. Hope in Christ for Transformation (HCT) supports smallholder farmers by addressing these barriers and helping communities move from subsistence to sustainable livelihoods. Through agriculture, HCT seeks to reduce hunger while restoring dignity and hope.

HCT’s agricultural programs emphasize participatory and climate-smart practices. These include providing quality seeds and tools, promoting improved farming techniques, supporting farmer groups, and encouraging diversification of crops and livelihoods. By strengthening local knowledge and skills, HCT enables communities to increase productivity, improve nutrition, and build resilience against future shocks.

Guided by Christian values of stewardship and care for creation, HCT views agriculture as both a livelihood and a calling. By empowering families to provide for themselves, the organization fosters independence and long-term development.
